Amy L. Gwyn, CPL

Amy Gwyn, CPL, is a seasoned landman and leader with a strong commitment to professional development and technical innovation. Her initial exposure to landwork came through her aunt and uncle — she worked part time in their home office while attending college. In addition to filing and preparing drafts, she edited leases and ROW agreements for her uncle and, when schedules aligned, went with her aunt to check records at courthouses throughout the Texas Panhandle. Gwyn earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and spent a few years working in other industries, but as the Barnett Shale kicked off a new era, she joined her family as a lease and title broker in Fort Worth.

After several years as an independent field landman, Gwyn joined Devon Energy as an in-house landman in 2008. She has supported rig lines in Texas and Mid-Con assets and has considerable experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, including surface and subsurface landmen, land analysis, regulatory, data management and GIS professionals. Through evaluation, negotiations and title due diligence, Gwyn and her teams support leasehold and producing property transactions and energy addition projects and investments. They also evaluate energy addition projects and investments. She has led teams and projects aimed at improving the efficiency of land processes and ensuring timely access to accurate data. Additionally, she is actively involved in Devon’s recruiting efforts.

Gwyn holds a Master of Science in energy legal studies from Oklahoma City University. A member of AAPL since 2004, she earned her Certified Professional Landman designation in 2012. She is also a member of the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen and has served both organizations on various committees, including Legislative Affairs, Membership and Certification. She is a past chair of the AAPL Certification Committee.  She serves as a WENOK (Women’s Energy Network) mentor and is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care in Oklahoma County. She, husband Greg and their Alaskan malamute, Ember, enjoy traveling in their motor home and spending time at the lake.
